You must wear ERC top.
This is an ERC Core Race.
Please use your MWL bib if you raced in the league already this season. If this is your first MWL race - you will receive your bib before the start.
Location:
Race HQ is Katherine Warington School, Lower Luton Road, Harpenden, Herts, AL5 5FH Katherine Warington School (main) entrance. Map link.
Parking:
There will be some (limited) parking within the school. It is suggested that alternative parking is found in nearby residential streets while being mindful of local residents (note that there is pedestrian access over the river so you can park either side of it). Please follow marshals’ instructions. Marshalls will only be at the school.
If you parked at the school, on departure from the school it may be easier to turn left due to traffic. Please note that there will not be marshalls guiding cars out at this junction and there may still be runners still returning to the school.
Start & Finish:
Start and Finish will be on the cycle track parallel to the Wheathampstead Road. It is a narrow start, so please try to make a good estimate of your finishing time and choose your start position within the starting line-up. Be courteous to the runners around you if congested.
.
At the end, you will receive a ‘parkrun style’ position token. You must retain this until you’ve been scanned by a volunteer using a smartphone App. As soon as you can, after leaving the funnel, find the scanning volunteers. They will scan your bib barcode and then your position token. This scanning is essential as it becomes part of the results data.
Race Route/Course Guidance
Approx 10km, Race Permit 2025-29649 and a reminder that under this permit headphones are forbidden – runners with headphones (of any type) will be disqualified.
The race starts and finishes on a cycle track parallel to the main Wheathamptead Road, before heading out through a housing estate and on to country lanes. At around 2km, the course turns into a 3.4km double loop, after the second loop runners retrace the route back to the start. At about 1km and 9km there are some gates / barriers to navigate where particular care is advised. Most of the narrow roads are quiet, but they are open to traffic. Surfaces are generally good (all tarmac) – but please be alert for kerbs, pot holes and any other obstacles. Signage will have been put up. The course is open to pedestrians and vehicles so obey marshals’ instructions, keep to the left and run responsibly to look after your own safety. There are numerous turns and some road crossings at junctions, run on the pavements wherever you can. Please take care.
Refreshments:
A small buffet will be provided after the race at the Race HQ. There is no bar available.
