NB PLEASE DO NOT park at race HQ.
Public Transport: Broxbourne Station is 0.5 miles from race HQ.
Please aim to get to Broxbourne Sports Club between 7:00-7:15pm to set up your club flag and for bag drop. You will need to find your team to pick up your numbered bib (unless previously collected). Please do not discard your bib after the race; you will use the same one for all races in this season.
Toilets / Changing: There will be portaloos located at race HQ. There are no dedicated changing facilities or showers available.
Bag drop: A marshalled bag drop will be located at race HQ.
Race vest / top: You must wear your club colours for this race and throughout the race series. During the race, always wear the numbered bib allocated to you by your club rep on the front of your vest / top.
Safety pins: Please don’t put safety pins through the barcode as it may not be possible to scan. Please bring your own safety pins.
The route: Please see the route map on page 3. The race will start on Broxbourne Recreation Ground with a lap around it (inside the park). It is then an out and back route with approximately 35m elevation gain, almost exclusively on pedestrian / cycle paths following the River Lea and Lee Valley Country Park. There are some gravel parts of the towpath. There are likely to be other users of the park and towpath, so please be as considerate as you can; we do not have right of way. The turnaround point is a sharp u-turn where we ask runners to take care when navigating. The race will conclude on Broxbourne Recreation Ground. There will be signage and arrows out on the course and marshalls situated at every potential turn point.
There is no cut-off time for this race.
NB Runners must not run wearing headphones or other impediments to their hearing. Any runner infringing this rule at any point in the race will be disqualified and removed from the results.
Water Station: There will be a water station at approximately 5km on the course.
Post Race: You must stay in finishing sequence in the finish funnel until you have been given a finish token. You will receive a parkrun-style finish token which you must retain until you have been scanned by a volunteer. As soon as you can, after leaving the funnel, please find a scanning volunteer. That volunteer will scan your bib barcode first, and then your position token. This scanning is essential as it becomes part of the results data. Please do not go home until you have been scanned and do not leave with the token. Please do not duck out of or into the finish funnel.
There will be light refreshments to replace basic energy and fluid lost from racing at race HQ. Runners are also welcome to purchase drinks from the sports club bar.
Results: These will be published on www.mwrrl.org.uk, normally within a day or two of the race.
First Aid: The first aid provider is EB Medical, whose contact details are 07715 868442. The Race Director’s contact details are 07706 173458 (Ellen Ilott). This is only to be used if you see a runner in distress and cannot resolve their problem. In case of any medical emergency, always call 999 first.
