Tuesday 13th May – Green Run + Odd Socks Day
Meet at Hazlewood at the usual time
Wear green and your oddest socks to raise awareness and start conversations about mental health… Green represents balance and wellbeing — odd socks remind us that it’s OK to stand out.
Let’s run!
We’re turning our regular Thursday session into something a little different — a Scavenger Hunt! This fun, light-hearted activity is designed to get us moving, connecting, and laughing together while supporting mental health awareness.
Meet at Grovelands at 7pm (parkrun start point)
Runners will be divided into small groups (or pairs depending on numbers).
Each group will receive a scavenger hunt list with items or prompts to “find” or photograph along the route — e.g., a team selfie at a park bench, etc.The focus is on teamwork, creativity, and enjoyment — not speed!
Everyone returns to the meeting point at a set time to share their finds, stories, and a few laughs.
Sunday 18th May – Chat Laps
Edmonton RC plans to mark Mental Health Awareness Week by inviting members to take part in ‘Chat Laps’ at Firs Wetlands on Sunday 18th May from 9am.
‘Chat Laps’ is an opportunity to run or walk a 1-mile lap of Firs Wetlands with different ERC Members who you may not have had chance to meet or run with before. The concept is simple.
Arrive at the café in Firs Wetlands and start between 9:00am and 10:00am
Pick a partner to run with (ideally 1:1) and agree an easy chatty pace for your lap.
Chat, sing, put the world to rights, or just get to know each other on your lap.
After one lap, change partner and repeat the lap.
Run/walk as many laps as you want, with as many different members as you can,
Leave the headphones at home, this is about engaging with your fellow members.
Have fun….laugh…feel energised.
Finish whenever you want, but no later than 11am.
Let’s get social. Join your club members for coffee, cake or brunch at Leon’s Café in Firs Wetlands from 11am.

Yes that's right a Chat GPT training session for one mile race training:
Speed Endurance Runs: Include one speed endurance run per week. Run 800 meters at your goal mile pace, followed by a 200-meter acceleration to faster than race pace. Repeat this sequence 3-4 times. Recovery is a jog round the route back to the start.
We'll be running from the club to Bush Hill Park (or see you in the park Lincoln Road Entrance opposite Harman Road 7:30 ish). Route Link

The ERC BBQ is back!
You are invited to the Edmonton RC Summer BBQ at 3pm on Sunday 6th July at Hazelwood Sports Club.
Following feedback, the committee has worked with our caterer on the menu and portion sizes. You will be able to pick three main dishes as follows.
The dishes will be accompanied by a selection of sides (Potato salad, Pasta salad, Homemade coleslaw, mixed salad etc..). Food will be served from 3:45pm, so don’t be late.
️Optional….feel free to bring any of your medals! It’s a great opportunity to celebrate your successes over the last year, and show-off your hard-earned bling.
We will be holding a raffle on the day to raise funds for the club. This will be the final chance to win a ‘Golden Ticket’ to participate in the 2025 edition of Run the River! The committee would be extremely grateful if anybody is able to donate a raffle prize. Please let Gareth know if you can help.
Calling all bakers, cooks and chefs… we’d be so grateful to anyone who can bring along a dessert to share. Please let Hannah know if you can help.
The cost of the BBQ is £21 per person (which covers the cost of the caterer at £20 per head, plus £1 to cover incidentals). ERC organises the BBQ at cost price to members. Payment will be by direct bank transfer to the ERC Metrobank account.
