It is with much sadness that we have to report the death of honorary club member Jill Oliver in November after a short illness. Whilst not a runner herself, Jill was very much a part of the running club, helping to organise our involvement in many activites such as London Marathon Baggage. If you have entered any the races we organise such as the Lee Valley 10k or the Tottenham Marshes 5, it is likely you will have either spoken to or met Jill as she was responsible for collating and distributing the numbers.
The Edmonton RC chairman, Brian Collison has written this tribute to Jill:
"Jill will be a hard act to follow. She never missed a club night, was always present on Sunday morning events – training and racing – no matter where we were for 20 years. Jill’s support would be there with a shout of encouragement when it was most needed. In the early days she had two young children but Jill would bring them along to the races and still find the time to take care of runners’ valuables. Jill was always there to help with baggage events, social events and many other things too many to remember.
If there was an award for 20 years service to our club it would have had the name Jill Oliver on it.
We miss you Jill but we never forget you. "
