Hi
I was wondering as people seem to be training for either half or marathons in the next few months if we could organise regular speed work each month? If people didnt want to do speed work then they could run as normal. Just a thought as I know it really helped me last year when I was aiming for a PB for my 10km last March and its hard to do speed work on your own. Cheers Jan
Hills Tuesday?
This is a very inclusive session as each individual sets their own level and everyone finishes each rep at the same time. Read on…
What: Downhill First
When: Tuesday 13th November @ 7:15pm
Which Hill: Uplands Way
How:
Each rep is started together at the top of Uplands Way, we will run downhill for a minute, then immediately climb the hill back to the starting point. It is up to you how far you want to descend within the minute, and therefore you determine how far you have to climb. When everyone has regrouped at the top of the hill the next rep starts.
Reps: 8
Warmup: Run together from the club up Green Dragon Lane turning right onto Caodgen Gardens, left onto Vera Ave to the top of Uplands Way.
Cooldown: Reverse of warmup.
If you want to programme the session into your Garmin use the following steps:
1) Run until lap key pressed, no target. (warmup)
2) Run 1 minutes, no target. (descend hill)
3) Run until lap key pressed, no target. (ascend hill)
4) Repeat steps 2&3 x8 (reps)
5) Run until lap key pressed, no target (cool down).
Tuesday 4th September 2012 – it’s the last ERC 5k handicap. Meet at club for 7pm to jog to park or meet by the main gate for 7.30pm start. All welcome, even if you have not run any of the others, it’s still a good indicator of your speed.
Let’s try to get our biggest turn out to date.
See you there, Lorraine
The running game sometimes known as “Raggle Taggle Boo”
What: Hill Session/ Running Game
When: Tuesday 21st August @ 7:15pm
Which Hill: A short loop in Grovelands Park
How: This session requires participants to pair up with somebody of a similar standard to themselves. A member of each pair completes a short loop in the park (approximately 400m), then tags their partner who completes this loop while they recover, they then tag again and repeat this until each person has completed the loop five times. Faster pairs may wish to do more than 5 reps.
Reps: 5
Warmup: Run together from the club up Green Dragon Lane turning left on Hadley Way, continuing on Houndsden Road, left onto Stone Hall Road, and across Church Hill into Grovelands Park.
Cooldown: Reverse of warmup.
ALSO REMEMBER TO USE SOME INSECT REPELLENT, OR COVER UP ARMS AND LEGS WHEN RUNNING IN GROVELANDS PARK TO REDUCE THE RISK OF BUG BITES.
Anybody Fancy Running Some Hills?

Hi Rajiv, I sent you e-mail about Canterbury. I injured myself again running on Saturday and after 3 days it looks like I will be fine. Will take it easy for Canterbury and hope to come club next week.
Hi Susie, I will be happy to drive to our group to Canterbury and pick up from Southbury.
Hi there – am thinking of entering the Canterbury half too. Would there be room for one more in the car share?
